a)Let the width of the larger one = w , then the width of the smaller one = k(1 - 40%) = 0.6w The volume of : Big : Small = (w : 0.6w)^2 42 : Small = (1 : 0.6)^2 42 : Small = (5 : 3)^2 42 : Small = 25 : 9 Small = 42*9/25 = 15.12cm^3 b)The total surface area of : Small : Big = (0.6w : w)^3 Small : 79 = (3 : 5)^3 Small = 79 * 27/125 = 17.064cm^2
