A box of mass m=37.6kg is pushed upward with an acceleration a=8.1ms^-2 by a horizontal force F. The slope on which the box rests makes an angle α=48 degree. What should be the force F? The force component that pushes the box going up the plane = F.cos(48) Hence, use : net force = mass x acceleration F.cos(48) - mg.sin(48) = ma i.e. F = [m(a + g.sin(48))]/cos(48) = [37.6 x (8.1 + 10.sin(48))]/cos(48) N F = 873 N [Take g, the acceleration due to gravity, to be 10 m/s^2]
